This film documents a series of experiments done by a group of young urban Maya in Merida, Mexico, working with DIY devices inspired by technologies used in current archaeology. These surveys show how Maya culture is represented today.
Andrés Padilla Domene
Born in 1986 in Guadalajara, Mexico, Andrés Padilla Domene studied Media Arts in Mexico. He has exhibited his work in various festivals and exhibitions in Mexico and around the world, including Modern Ruins 1:220 The Arts Catalyst Furtherfield Gallery (London, 2014), ISEA 2012 Main Exhibition (Albuquerque, US, 2012), The Dreams of a Nation, a year later, at the Museo Nacional de Arte MUNAL (Mexico City, 2011), 04 Transitio_MX (Mexico City, 2011), Gym of Obsolete Technology, W139 Gallery (Amsterdam, 2016) Setting out, Apexart (New York, 2016), La Fabrique des Images at Institut Culturel du Mexique (Paris, 2015) and EFRC, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo (Quito, Ecuador, 2012). Since 2007, he has developed together with Ivan Puig the project SEFT-1 (seft1.net).
He is also part of the artist collective Astrovandalistas (astrovandalistas.cc) and currently an artist student at Le Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains.
