Some Astronomers Love Dogs Drugs And Prisms Chistopher, a home scientist, a troubled dreamer, is attracted by the light play in his limited surroundings to such an extent that he finds a form of friend within it. In this state he resembles Newton, Galileo or Vermeer who painted himself as an astronomer. All these historical visionaries can be quite easily imagined in their domestic context and all were frequently dependent on light for their discoveries, both childishly simple and intriguingly complex. In the film, a crystal takes the central character away from himself, from his own domestic « pod », into a wider sphere where he is able to grasp the potential for other life forms.
