Entre la cañada y valdecarros - Installation - 2010

presented as part of the exhibition Panorama 12

Installation

Madrid, Spain. To the northeast rests Valdecarros, as it slowly is built in waves. It is the city expanding. To the southeast, lies the Cañada Real, at the base of a landfill. It is a city refused, the largest marginal neighborhood in Western Europe, at 30,000 residents living in illegal and improvised homes. Between the two is the high speed track for both the Ave and Renfe services. The M50 also divides the two neighborhoods. A 360 degree panoramic image reduces what is a two kilometer walk through dirt and inclines. An image from March 2010.
