Guillaume Lançon

Born in 1999 in NANTUA (France)

Born in Nantua in 1999, Guillaume works on themes related to the industrial and working-class milieu in which he grew up. After completing an art foundation course in the CPES-CAAP at the lycée Auguste et Louis Lumière in Lyon, and a bachelor’s degree at the University of Paul Valéry in Montpellier, he made his first film when working towards a Master’s in Documentary Cinema at the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne. His project, *Ceux qui sont restés* (Those Who Stayed), focuses on a factory where he once worked and explores the rhythms of the workstations around the clock. Upon entering Le Fresnoy, he confirmed his desire to make documentaries, taking inspiration from the history of photography and blending it with a more visual approach, all while continuing to focus on social issues and the medium of the archive. Alongside his career as a filmmaker, he is also co-founder of the association Toc Toc les Docs, which promotes emerging documentary filmmaking, and is working on an exhibition project (video and photography) exploring the demarcation line with director Cyril Lafon and photographer Thomas Ermel.
