Marcel Hanoun

Born in 1929 in Tunis (Tunisia)

Marcel Hanoun was a French filmmaker, photographer and writer.

Most of his films are based on the question of creation, with live commentary. France's policy of cultural exception is not open and radical enough to take the true measure of Marcel Hanoun's work. The filmmaker and his films circulate in American universities and film libraries. In New York, Jonas Mekas was fascinated by his work and made him the most important French filmmaker since Bresson.
