Eugène Green

Born in 1947 in New York (United States)

Of American origin, Eugène Green maintains a certain mystery about the early years of his life. He began his artistic career as a painter, before turning to the theatre in the late 1970s. A protean artist, playwright, writer and poet, Eugène Green launched his film career in 2001 with Toutes les nuits, a stylised work with Bressonian overtones that won the Louis-Delluc Prize for Best First Film. After Le Monde vivant (The Living World), a medieval fantasy presented at the Quinzaine des réalisateurs in Cannes in 2003, this unusual filmmaker enlarged his family of actors by calling on Natacha Régnier and Denis Podalydès for Le Pont des arts (The Bridge of the Arts), released in 2004.
