Athiná-Rachél Tsangári

Athina Rachel Tsangari's Attenberg (2010) premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Coppa Volpi Award for Best Actress for Ariane Labed, and further garnered several best film awards worldwide. Her latest feature Chevalier (2016) won Best Film at the BFI-London Film Festival and was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Independent Spirit Awards. Both Attenberg and Chevalier were Greece's submissions to the Academy Awards.

For the last ten years she has operated Haos Film, a filmmaker-run company based in Athens, Greece. Among Haos' producing credits are Yorgos Lanthimos' Kinetta (2005), Dogtooth (2009) and ALPS (2011).

Co-producer on Richard Linklater's Before Midnight (2013), where she also appeared as an actress. Filmmaker-in-residence at Film Society of Lincoln Center, Radcliffe Institute Fellow at Harvard University, where she also taught as a visiting professor (2014-2016). DAAD artist-in-residence in Berlin, working on her stage directorial debut, Wedekind's LULU, commissioned by the Salzburg Festival (2017). Recipient of the Kunstpreis Berlin in Cinema, awarded by Germany's Akademie Der Künste.

Lead director of the BBC2 TV series "Trigomeytry", written by Duncan Macmillan and Effie Woods, and executive produced by Tessa Ross and Juliette Howell of House Productions in the UK, which had its world premiere at "Berlinale Series" in February 2020 to raving reviews, and its US premiere on HBO Max in June 2020.

In development of her fourth feature, action screwball noir White Knuckles, which she began writing as the Filmmaker in Residence at the Lincoln Center Film Society. She has served as a jury member at Cannes, Berlin, Locarno, Sundance and Toronto film festivals, and as jury president in Venice (Orizzonti), Göteborg and BFI London.
