SOMEWHERE BETWEEN A and Z.

/ DEFRAGMENTING /

While I'm at Le Fresnoy, I'll be developing and shooting a project entitled QUELQUE PART ENTRE A ET Z.

This film, or anti-film, will be made up of fragments of images sedimented over four layers. This project will be an attempt to put into images a series of prophecies, their reception and interpretation.

Shot on Super 16mm film, QUELQUE PART ENTRE A ET Z will unfold as a filmic essay, also in the form of installations.

I'll be working alongside clairvoyants called in specifically for the project, and I'll be endeavouring to give a formal, cryptic reading of their visions.

These film prophecies will then be viewed and commented on by an authentic audience, with the transcribed comments performed by actors and actresses.

To echo this project, while I'm at Le Fresnoy I'll be showing an anthology of programmes, dramas and experiments produced and directed by the ORTF research department. In particular the creations of Jean Frapat, because this immense collection held by the INA is today too little known, too little seen, too little commented on or analysed, let alone broadcast.

It is, however, a rich and fertile body of material that is closely linked to what makes Le Fresnoy so special.

This specific work is part of a series of film research projects that I call "Mon Anticinéma."
